Relative susceptibility of five species of Calathea to Bipolaris setariae, the cause of Helminthosporium leaf spot, was tested under greehouse conditions. Calathea louisae ‘Green Feather’ and C. roseopicta were highly resistant, while C. makoyana ‘Peacock Plant’ was moderately resistant. The most susceptible species were C. argentea ‘Silver Portrait’ and ‘Vandenheckei’, and C. insignis ‘Rattlesnake’.
